Cool For Thought

All photos are taken by me and are my intellectual property. This is my own personal photoblog. I like to shoot from time to time. Welcome and enjoy.

Our internal thoughts ultimately affect all aspects our individual makeup from our art, style, desires and emotions. Our thoughts are further expressed by our external actions which have the possibility to inspire, infuse and invigorate those around us. Our biggest weakness is that we are limited in our capacity for knowledge and thought. However, our thoughts alone, when harnessed and executed, can have monumental effects on the world around us. Reflection through thought can be a revolutionary tool. With that in mind, let's make it cool to think again.

Venus de Milo - Musée du Louvre
Venus de Milo, is an ancient Greek statue and one of the most famous works of ancient Greek scuplture. Created sometime between 130 and 100 BC, it is believed to depict Aphrodite the Greek goddess of love and beauty (Venus to the Romans). The sculpture was discovered on April 8, 1820 by a peasant named Yorgos Kentrotas on the island of Milo and was found in several pieces.
It was absolutely crazy how many people were taking pictures of this famous sculpture in the museum. I literally had to push people out of the way to get a good shot.

Musée du Louvre
Walking through the Lourve for the first time was definitely an experience in itself, there are about 4 different sections, with each section being as big as any other museum itself. I would compare walking through the each section like walking through a maze: there are a myriad amount of little hallways, rooms and corridors that you can walk into and you can sort of lose yourself (which in my opinion, is a good thing). With that in mind, you can discover a lot of interesting art. The photograph above is actually a tombstone for a former king and queen. I discovered this tombstone in a very dim lit room by itself. The fact that this was the only artifact in the room highlighted the theme of death even more so. Nonetheless, it was one of the many interesting discoveries you can come across in this vast Museum.

Musée du Louvre
I do not consider myself religious by any means, but I have always appreciated the way various artists have captured the event concerning the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. There are many different subtle variations in terms of artistic perspective, but the overall mood and tone always seem to be very dark, ill-lighted and grim.

Musée du Louvre - Hercules fighting Achelous (1824)
Just another scuplture at the Lourve that caught my eye. The proportions of the sculpture is enormous in real life. It’s hard to imagine snakes being that big in scale but nonetheless it was an interesting piece to look at.

Light.
The best thing about this shot is that the candle light is artificial. When I was editing the photo, I thought it was amazing how one can manipulate an image by simply adjusting the color tone, brightness and contrast of the photo. Also, what was once normal people in the tunnel have now turned into strange enigmas in black hoods walking down a dark corridor. Dope.

Some Changes…

To all my followers…

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Therefore, every new photograph will contain some of my personal thoughts on the subject and the process in which I have edited them. We are human after all, so I thought it would be interesting to convey my perspective.  I hope you don’t mind.
